DESCRIPTION:Zeitgeistige Clubkultur\, gemischt mit globalen Klangtraditionen und einem kreativen Ansatz\, der Ideen aus verschiedenen Epochen vereint: Thievery Corporation gelten nicht ohne Grund als Könige im Bereich der elektronischen Fusion-Musik. Nun zelebrieren sie ihr dreißigjähriges Bestehen mit einer ausgiebigen Tour\, die sie auch nach Köln\, Hamburg und Berlin führt. Die gemeinsame Leidenschaft für seltene Vinyl-Funde und Klänge abseits des gegenwärtigen Mainstreams brachte die beiden DJs Rob Garza und Eric Hilton im Jahre 1995 in Washington D.C. initial zusammen. Schnell entstand die gemeinsame Vision\, Club-Musik von sämtlichen Limitationen zu befreien und von brasilianischem Bossa Nova bis hin zu klassisch indischer Musik mit den spannendsten Sounds dieser Welt zu fusionieren. Das kreative\, musikalische Kollektiv Thievery Corporation war geboren. Bereits ein Jahr nach Gründung erschien mit „Sounds From The Thievery Hi-Fi“ das Debütalbum\, das mit seinen warmen Grooves einen Gegenentwurf im Bereich elektronischer Musik lieferte\, der seinerzeit stark von Techno und House dominiert wurde. Schnell wurden die beiden US-Amerikaner zu einem international gefeierten Electronic Music-Duo und veröffentlichten in den darauffolgenden Jahren am laufenden Band Platten\, die nicht nur die Grenzen elektronischer Musik immer wieder neu definierten\, sondern auch selbstbewusst Genres wie Downtempo\, Trip-Hop\, Dub\, Bossa Nova\, Reggae\, Soul oder Jazz miteinander kombinierten. Besonders das 2000 erschienene „The Mirror Conspiracy“ erhielt große Bekanntheit und führte zum großen Durchbruch des Duos\, indem es einen zugänglichen Sound aus Latin-Vibes\, Dub-Elementen und Beats erschuf. Neuerfindung ist auch das richtige Stichwort für die Live-Shows von Thievery Corporation: Kaum ein Konzert gleicht dem anderen\, dank des besonderen Ansatzes des Duos. Mit einem wechselnden Kollektiv aus Musiker-innen und Sänger-innen touren die DJs durch die Welt und erarbeiten sich ständig wandelnde\, immersive Live-Performances. Hypnotische Grooves und atmosphärische Vocals sorgen für eine alles einnehmende Grundatmosphäre\, in welcher der eigene Soundkatalog immer wieder neuartig bearbeitet und von einer anderen Facette gezeigt wird. 2024 tourten sie nach längerer Zeit erstmalig wieder und spielten im Rahmen dessen auch ausverkaufte Shows in Köln und Berlin. Seitdem hat Ski Mask The Slump God weltweit über 6 Mrd. Streams auf Spotify sowie über 10 Mio. Follower auf den sozialen Medien gesammelt. Er kollaborierte mit Artists wie Juice WRLD\, Denzel Curry\, Lil Yachty\, ASAP Ferg und vielen weiteren und bereicherte seine Musik mit Einflüssen\, die weit über das Hip-Hop-Genre hinausgehen. 2026 führt es Ski Mask The Slump God auf seiner Europatour ins Frankfurter Zoom sowie ins Kölner Carlswerk Victoria.Noch bevor Stokely Clevon Goulbourne zu rappen begann\, freundete er sich eng mit XXXTentacion an\, den er 2013 in einer Jugendstrafanstalt traf. 2014 gründeten beide das Hip-Hop-Kollektiv Members Only und begannen ihre Karriere als Rapper. Mit ersten eigenen Uploads auf SoundCloud und verschiedenen Members-Only-Mixtapes unter dem Namen Ski Mask The Slump God machte er in den folgenden Jahren auf seine Musik aufmerksam. Inspiriert von Lil Wayne und Busta Rhymes baute Ski Mask The Slump God auf einen schnellen\, verspielten Flow und experimentierte mit Trap und Punk-Rap. Songs wie „Catch Me Outside“\, „BabyWipe“\, „Take A Step Back“ wurden zu ersten Erfolgen und mündeten 2017 in der Veröffentlichung seines Debütmixtapes „You Will Regret“. 2018 freundete Ski Mask sich mit Juice Wrld an und kollaborierte mit ihm auf der Single „Nuketown“. Im November des Jahres veröffentlichte er sein Debütalbum „Stokeley“\, das in den Billboard 200 auf Platz 6 einstieg und auch international in den Charts landete. Neben „Nuketown“ wurden „Faucet Failure“\, „Unbothered“ und „Foot Fungus“ zu absoluten Toptracks des Artists und machten seinen internationalen Durchbruch perfekt.
