DESCRIPTION:Die überraschende Rückkehr der kanadischen Post Hardcore-Initiatoren Alexisonfire sorgte nicht nur bei ihren Fans für verzückten Jubel. Denn anders als im Jahrzehnt davor\, als sich die fünf Gründungsmitglieder zwar sporadisch für Festival Shows zusammen fanden\, ihre Kreativität und Leidenschaft sonst aber in ihre jeweils aktuellen Bands steckten\, konnte man hier von einer echten Reunion jener Band sprechen\, die laut US-Rolling Stone im Alleingang „Kanada auf die Landkarte des Post Hardcore gesetzt hat.“ Nach dem 2022 erschienenen Comeback-Album „Otherness“ arbeitet das Quintett derzeit an seinem sechsten Album\, das in diesem Jahr erscheinen soll. Parallel wurden zwei Deutschland Shows im Juni angekündigt: Am 16. Juni in Köln\, einen Tag später in Berlin. \n\n\n\nWas passiert\, wenn sich fünf grundverschiedene Musiker in einem Proberaum treffen\, um ein neues Bandprojekt zu starten? Im Fall der 2001 im kanadischen St. Catherines gegründeten Band Alexisonfire geschah eine echte Initialzündung in Form eines gleichsam druck- wie anspruchsvollen Sounds jenseits aller Rock-Schubladen. Letztlich einigte man sich\, bei Alexisonfire von „kanadischem Post-Hardcore“ zu sprechen. Ihr stilistischer Eigensinn\, der sich auch darin ausdrückt\, dass sie gleich drei höchst unterschiedliche Leadvokalisten mitbringen\, zahlte sich umgehend aus: Bereits mit dem 2002 veröffentlichten Debütalbum „Alexisonfire“ avancierten sie weltweit zur Sensation.  \n\n\n\nEntsprechend groß war die allgemeine Bestürzung nach Bekanntgabe ihrer Auflösung 2011 nach zehn Jahren und vier gefeierten Alben. Im Anschluss widmeten sich die Fünf eigenen Musik-Projekten mit teils durchschlagendem Erfolg – um nach zehn Jahren Auszeit festzustellen\, dass die Lust auf diese besondere Band bei allen wieder voll entfacht ist. Prompt schrieben und produzierten sie 2022 in nicht mal einer Woche das komplette neue Album „Otherness“\, das unmissverständlich verdeutlicht: die besondere\, unverwechselbare Alexisonfire-Magie ist zurück. Zu Recht gewann die Band 2023 den JUNO Award für das „Rock Album of the Year“. \n\n\n\nSeither tourten sie mehrmals um die Welt. Ihre Shows erwiesen sich als genauso kraftvoll und intensiv wie damals. Nach der 2025 erschienenen EP „Copies of Old Masters\, Vol.1“ mit Coverversionen eigener Lieblingssongs widmen sie sich aktuell ihrem nächsten Studioalbum und äußerten sich sich kürzlich in einer Radiosendung\, dass man das bislang diverseste Album von ihnen erwarten dürfe.
