Eating out

Whatever you feel like eating - you can have it in Cologne. Here you will find more than 3000 pubs, cafes and restaurants serving everything from cake to pizza and sushi. And don't forget to try one of the typical brewhouses, where "Kölsch" is not only spoken (the dialect is called kölsch as well) but drunk as well, and where a  friendly and open-minded atmosphere will make you feel at home.

Starred and crowned chefs can be found just as readily in the hotels and restaurants of Cologne as experts in "Kölsche Kaviar" (black pudding with onions), "Halve Hahn" (a rye bread roll with semi-mature Gouda, onions and mustard), "Hämmche" (boiled knuckle of pork) or "Soorbrode" (a beef dish).

The Cologne Tourist Board can provide you with a wide range of information and tips, whether you are looking for a beer garden, places with wheelchair access, group bookings, fantastic views or a romantic dinner in a candlelit restaurant. Or why don't you try eating in the pitch dark restaurant "Unsichtbar" (German for "invisible)?
